Cat Bà explorations: caves, scooters and bioluminescent nights
We spent several days on Cát Bà Island, riding scooters to hidden caves and kayaking through secluded inlets. The kids loved spotting monkeys in the national park and watching the water glow on a night kayak. Staying at a homestay with a pool provided a relaxing break before we continued our journey.
Family travel tip: Rent scooters only if you’re comfortable driving in Vietnam—always wear helmets—and book bioluminescence tours with local guides. Bring bug spray and a sense of adventure.
Which would your kids enjoy more—scooters or kayaking? If Cát Bà is on your radar, I can help organise activities that balance adventure and relaxation. Altogether, we spent about $214 for the day. Highlights: Our stay was $49, a solid deal for the comfort we got., Lunch was $24, offering great value., Dinner cost $29, proof that tasty doesn’t mean pricey., We spent $16 on activities worth every cent., Transport ran us $20, cheaper than many cities.
