Commuter Tales: Running and Riding in Dubai

Commuter Tales: Running and Riding in Dubai

Commuter Tales: Running and Riding in Dubai

A morning run along the Dubai Water Canal showed me another side of the city—quiet paths, sunrise reflections and fishermen casting their lines. Later I hopped on the metro to work, accidentally ending up in the gold cabin (reserved for certain ticket holders). Awkward stares reminded me that even seasoned travelers make missteps. Navigating a new city’s public transport is part of the adventure.

Family travel tip: Dubai’s metro is efficient and affordable—purchase a Nol card and note the different cabin classes. Running or walking paths along the canal and the Marina are great places to exercise safely. Teach kids how to use transit maps; it’s a skill they’ll keep for life.
