Frogs vs. Sloths: A Day of Wildlife
Frogs vs. Sloths: A Day of Wildlife
In Costa Rica’s lush jungles it’s easy to get distracted by everything that hops, crawls or hangs from a tree. One afternoon we spied tiny poison‑dart frogs the colour of blueberries, then met the undisputed champions of our wildlife contest: sleepy sloths dangling from branches. The boys voted sloths the winners because “they hug trees like we hug Mom.” We finished the day with yet another sunset on a black‑sand beach, feeling grateful for nature’s variety.
Family travel tip: Bring binoculars and a local wildlife guidebook. Early morning and late afternoon are best for spotting frogs and sloths. Teach kids to observe quietly and keep a respectful distance—never touch or feed wild animals.
