Moalboal magic: sardine runs and sea turtles

Moalboal was all about the water. We snorkelled off Panagsama Beach and found ourselves surrounded by a swirling sardine ball—hundreds of thousands of fish moving as one. We visited Pescador Island to explore an underwater cave known as ‘The Cathedral’ and spotted sea turtles grazing on the reef. In the evening we enjoyed fresh barbecue by the shore.

Family travel tip: Wear a life jacket if you’re not a confident swimmer, avoid standing on the reef and consider staying near Panagsama for easy water access.

Would you rather swim with turtles or sardines? Our Moalboal guide helps you experience both responsibly.
