Montezuma Magic: Waterfalls and Bioluminescence
Montezuma Magic: Waterfalls and Bioluminescence
Montezuma was good to us. We hiked to Cocolito Waterfall through the jungle, swam beneath its cool cascade, and picnicked on the rocks. At Santa Teresa Beach the boys tried surfing for the first time, laughing each time they wiped out. As night fell we paddled kayaks into a dark lagoon where the water lit up with every stroke—bioluminescent plankton turning our paddles into wands. Rain or shine, Montezuma delivered pure magic.
Family travel tip: Pack waterproof dry bags and water shoes for waterfall hikes. For bioluminescent tours, choose clear, moonless nights; the darker the better. Remind kids to respect marine life—no chasing fish or touching coral.
