Port Barton Pause: Rest and Research

Port Barton Pause: Rest and Research

Port Barton Pause: Rest and Research

After weeks of island hopping and salty swims, our family needed a breather. In tiny Port Barton we declared a rest day: no tours, no schedules, just letting the boys sleep late and recover while I caught up on research. The hammocks creaked in the afternoon breeze as I planned our next adventures and the kids drew pictures of sea turtles on the porch. Unplanned parenting sometimes means recognizing when the best thing you can do is nothing at all.

Family travel tip: Build in down days during your trip. Kids (and parents) need time to recharge, wash clothes and adjust to new climates. Port Barton’s mellow vibe makes it easy to slow down—there are plenty of quiet beaches and cafés where you can sip a mango shake while planning the next island‑hopping tour.
