Puerto Princesa: rivers, markets and bayfront sunsets

Puerto Princesa served as our gateway to Palawan. We visited the Subterranean River National Park—one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature—on a day trip, gliding through a limestone cave by boat while bats fluttered overhead. In town we browsed the Baywalk market and ate fresh kinilaw as the sun set over the harbour.

Family travel tip: Book Underground River permits early, bring headlamps for the cave tour and explore the Baywalk in the evening when vendors set up games and food stalls.
