Sunburns and Crocodiles in Tárcoles
Sunburns and Crocodiles in Tárcoles
So far on our trip we’d only suffered slight sunburn, but that didn’t stop us from leaning over the famous Crocodile Bridge in Tárcoles to spot massive American crocs sunning on the riverbanks. After that thrilling detour we hiked to a nearby waterfall and cooled off in jungle pools before heading to Jacó Beach for sunset. The day was a reminder to respect both the sun and the creatures that call these rivers home.
Family travel tip: When visiting Tárcoles, wear hats and long sleeves to prevent sunburn, and use reef‑safe sunscreen. Keep a safe distance from wildlife—never feed crocs or lean too far over the bridge. Pack plenty of water for hikes and beach time.
